Testimonials

“As a midwife, Tara and Nicki are two of my absolute favorite doulas to work with and I couldn't speak more highly of them. Whenever a mutual client of ours tells me that this is who they have chosen for their doula, I always tell them I believe it's an excellent choice that they will be happy with. I have never had a client come back to me after their birth with either of these doulas and feel anything less than fully supported and empowered in their birth.

Nicki and Tara are both very hands-on with their clients, but also understand when their most important role is to simply step back quietly and give their laboring client space if that's what is needed. I think they are both highly intuitive and fully in-tune with each client and family's unique needs during their birthing time..”

  • I really feel Tara was essential to keep my goal for a drug-free birth possible.  I did not even think once about wanting pain medication because she was always there to offer a way for me or for my husband to help me feel more comfortable.  She was always so sweet and helpful, and even offered the nurses some sweet sustenance!

  • Nicki had so many encouraging ideas and made me feel confident in my decisions. She was our support before, during and after our baby was born. She was my cheerleader as I pushed and helped me get that first latch just right while feeding my baby. I felt so much safer and more confident with her by my side.

  • Leading up to the delivery, Tara was always available to answer questions and to process any fears that I had. She could not have been more responsive and more present. She was a huge support to both me and my husband, and, because of her, we had a beautiful, positive birth experience.

  • Nicki knew what to say when I needed it, where to massage to help with the pain, and coach my husband to support me. Even though she was present, I still felt like my husband was just as active, if not more, because she coached him to help me most effectively. I now have great memories which I will cherish forever.

    ~ Jessi L (NICU RN)

  • I was able to stay way more calm and relaxed than I ever expected, and a huge part of it was Tara’s cues, her touch, and her overall calm but confident energy.

Doulas Support Partners Too!

“As a dad who was extremely skeptical about hiring a doula, I could not be more thankful to have had Tara on our birthing team. She was an incredible advocate with the medical staff, excellent support for my wife, and helped us navigate each step of the process with ease. Gentlemen, if your wife is pregnant, do yourself a favor and hire Tara already.”

— Jordan, father of 3 (2 born via VBAC with Tara attending)

“If I had any ambivalence about connecting with a doula for the birth of our son, it was based on the fact that I knew I wanted to be my wife’s primary support and a totally integral part of the birth process, and I didn’t want to end up including someone in the event only to wind up feeling like I had inadvertently crowded myself out of the picture! After all, I had read “The Birth Partner,” among other books, and together my wife and I had attended labor yoga workshops and hospital birth classes leading up to our due date. So why would we need a doula?

I knew from the stories I had heard and read, and by wading through what oftentimes felt like a minefield of conflicting information, that so many unexpected variables can come up, not just during a birth, but leading up to one as well. I was hoping to find someone who could help us navigate the complicated politics of hospital induction policies, and give us insight into what other factors to keep in mind when choosing a hospital. Which hospitals let you eat food during labor, or have tubs for hydrotherapy? And is water birth even a thing?!

From the moment we spoke with Nicki it was clear that she held an absolute treasure trove of knowledge, and more so, her wisdom was clearly grounded in her own lived experience, not only from creating her own family, but from the countless births she has attended as a doula. Once labor started, I could not have been more grateful and relieved to have Nicki on our team. Any fears I had of being replaced went straight out the window as I knew that we needed the additional support for what would be an overwhelming night. Nicki’s presence in the room was downright artful, as she empowered me to be the birth partner I had hoped I could be.

She gracefully wove herself in and out of the action, never overstepping, but asserting her expertise in just the perfect moments to help keep the process in flow.

She was able to choreograph my wife’s movements throughout labor in ways that I never would have known how to do. I think most of all, Nicki instilled in me a sense of quiet confidence which allowed me to stay present and strong throughout the whole experience.”

“My wife and I interviewed numerous doulas and quickly connected with Nicki. She is down to earth and was clear that her practice is to be supportive of whatever our goals are, not hers. From beginning to end Nicki set us up for success.

As a couple who are not from the area we had no knowledge of the local medical community nor did we have friends or family in the area. Nicki immediately recommended a great team to support us before, during, and after delivery. From our OB, pelvic floor PT, postpartum mom and dads support groups, lactation consultants, chiropractors and more.

My wife had a great delivery with Nicki and I by her side.

Nicki was great helping us prepare and create our preferences but also prepared us for the inevitable changes we could not foresee.

After induction, during nursing shift changes, having Nicki there as our consistent support was crucial. When my wife was having back pains she was an experienced set of hands for repositioning and massaging. My wife reflects now that she was well prepared and we continue to have great support now six week after our son was born. We cannot thank Nicki enough for all she has done. She has given us a gift for which we could never repay her.”

“"My wife met with Tara and was impressed not only in her expertise in what we could expect from our own birthing process, but how to better involve the medical professionals we were already working with so that we could maximize the amount of support we were getting.

Tara came to meet with the two of us on several occasions and spent a good amount of her time explaining to me how I can better support my wife as she goes through the labor process, and I really appreciated the time she spent with me to tell me how I could take an active, and more importantly a positive, role in the birth of my child.”
